Get Ready to Rumble: 3 Tips for Hosting a Viewing Party for a Boxing Match

Watch parties can be awesome, but really it takes a host who knows what they’re doing. Especially when it comes to boxing matches, people don’t just want to watch; they want to feel like they’re ringside, soaking up every jab, hook, and knockout blow.

Here are 3 tips for hosting an awesome watch party for a boxing match.

Fight Night Decor

Turning your space into a boxing arena adds a whole lot of fun and gets everyone in the mood for the main event.

So:

  • Pick a spot – like around your service yard – and mark it out with tape or ropes to create a mini boxing ring. Add some chairs around for spectators to cheer on their favorite fighters
  • Deck out the place with posters of epic fights, hang up some punching bag decorations, and scatter around a bunch of boxing gloves. And why not throw in some real boxing memorabilia if you have any lying around!

Signature Cocktails

Custom cocktails are a fun way to add some flavor to the party and keep everyone’s spirits high.

You want to:

  • Get creative with names like “Haymaker Highball” or “Uppercut Martini.” Tailor the ingredients to match the theme or colors of the event. For example, mix up a “Rope-a-Dope Rum Punch” with red and blue juices for that knockout taste
  • Serve them in themed glasses or add some flair with mini boxing gloves hanging off the rim. Set up a DIY cocktail station where guests can mix and match their own drinks for some interactive fun

Basically, picture a “Champion’s Corner” bar, where guests can order up their custom creations from a menu board listing all the specialty drinks. Bartenders decked out in referee shirts or boxing gloves shake up the drinks, adding to the ringside vibe. Sipping on their “Jab Juleps,” guests feel like true contenders.

Interactive Games

Games keep the energy up between rounds and add a bit of friendly competition to the mix.

How do you get interactive? There’s plenty to do! For example, you could inflate an actual boxing ring and let guests duke it out with oversized gloves. Spice it up with a “Ring Announcer” hyping up each match. Or, have guests fill out prediction cards for the main event, guessing things like the round and method of victory. Keep a leaderboard going to see who comes out on top.

Basically, during breaks, invite guests to step into the mini ring for some friendly sparring matches. With a “Fighter’s Challenge” trophy up for grabs, the competition will be fierce. Meanwhile, guests can fill out their prediction cards, with the winner scoring bragging rights and maybe a cool prize. And keep that leaderboard updated throughout the night for some extra excitement!
