Baseball next for Olympic Stadium

Baseball matches are on course to be staged at London’s former Olympic Stadium after the city’s mayor, Sadiq Khan, claimed the head of the sport was “very keen” to hold games in the capital.

The mayor held talks with the Major League Baseball commissioner in the US this week about the prospect of London hosting games in the summer — which would fit in with the close season for the stadium’s anchor tenants, West Ham. Khan said: “Major League Baseball are very excited.”

Khan also held talks with the NFL and the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars about setting up a permanent American football franchise in London.
